This incredibly tasty little appetiser or starter is very easy to make and highly popular. The salmon is quickly cooked by pouring warm oil on top of it, and the taste of ginger, garlic, lime and sesame oil, amongst other things, combine into a delicious marinade around the salmon.

You can serve this dish as individual portions or in a dish, either on its own or with grilled/crisp-fried slices of bread.

Time: 30 min. / servings: 4

Ingredients

  • 300 g (0.6 lbs) fresh salmon
  • 4 finely grated cloves of garlic
  • 1 piece of ginger, approx. 5-8 cm (2-3.2 inches), finely grated
  • 2 tbsp chopped chives

Marinade

  • 1 dl (0.4 cup) soya
  • ¼ dl (0.1 cup) freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • ¼ dl (0.1 cup) freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 2 tsp light sesame seeds

Oil mixture

  • 1 dl (0.4 cup) rapeseed oil
  • ½ dl (0.2 cup) sesame oil

Cooking method

  1. Mix the oils in a pot and heat up the mixture until it is scorching hot.
  2. Mix all the ingredients for the marinade and leave it on the side.
  3. Cut the salmon into slices with a thickness of approx. 3-5 cm (1.2-2 inches) and arrange them on 4 plates or in an oven proof dish.
  4. Spread some grated garlic and ginger onto the salmon. They both have a very strong taste so do not use too much. Sprinkle a bit of chives on top.
  5. Pour some of the scorching hot oil on top of each piece of salmon to cook the surface a little bit.
  6. Garnish your salmon pieces with some of the marinade and sprinkle with finely chopped chives.
