Cleaning & maintenance of outdoor ovens

Use a stiff copper brush when the stone is hot. The dark marks on the stone are particles of soot and ash. Unfortunately, these marks cannot be completely avoided, but they can be minimised by burning only completely dry, finely split wood.

When the oven is fired, small cracks may develop on the surface of the stones. These cracks are insignificant and pose no safety or health risks.

Cast iron surfaces that do not come into contact with food can be wiped daily with a damp cloth or washed with a mild solution of soft soap when the oven is cold. If necessary, use demineralised water, as ordinary tap water may leave limescale marks.

Over time, the surface may become slightly tarnished and greyish. However, it can be refreshed using Morsø spray paint for outdoor use (UHT 600). If the surface becomes heavily tarnished and shows signs of rust formation, it can be gently cleaned using fine sandpaper/abrasive paper. Make sure that the surface is completely clean and dry before applying a new, thin coat of spray paint.

To protect Morsø Outdoor products, storage in a dry location (indoors) during the winter period is recommended.
